What I’m Thankful For

I value many things. But out of the many things I do value, one of my most important is enjoyment. I value this because if I’m not having fun, I wouldn’t want to do the activity, which I think we can all agree on. Another thing I value is independence because without it, I wouldn’t be able to decide on things for myself, other people would decide for me. There are numerous things that are important to me, one of them being friends. Without friends I truly wouldn’t know what to do. I can’t even imagine how it is for the people who don’t have friends, maybe even at our school. That’s why whenever there is a new student not from here; I do what I can to be friends with them.
When I’m asked what I am thankful for, I would usually just say my family, because they supply me with a house to live in, water, and food. But now I am especially thankful for my family being safe in my home country, Syria. If somebody were to tell me that one of them was gone, I honestly wouldn’t even know how to respond or what to do. But I am thankful that nobody had to tell me that, and hopefully never will.
On Thanksgiving, I usually don’t do much, except for the usually Thanksgiving feast. We either go to a family friend’s house, or they come to ours (which is what we are doing this time). Also, we eat the usual Thanksgiving meal; no secret recipes or special dishes, which is not too exciting. Afterwards we have some fun though. We do numerous things: play cards, maybe play with the Wii, or maybe even play a board game. All in all, it’s a fun Thanksgiving.

  1. We don't have secret recipies either, but we always have monkey bread! (basically cinnamon bread made in a different way) Have you had that? it's pretty good!
