The Mayflower Lands in Livonia

As a teenager living in Livonia, I value my friends above everything else. Friendship is an irreplaceable aspect of my life. It is important to me because they are a support base and being around friends just makes you happy. It’s always nice to know someone will always be there for you especially when you need it most. I also value the power of humor. I think its important how one joke or making someone laugh one time can totally turn around someone’s day. Laughing can instantly improve your mood and it creates a happy atmosphere.

I am thankful for a lot; I am a relatively privileged person. I have a roof over my head, food to eat, and a warm bed to sleep in. I am especially thankful for my family; I have two great parents and eight living grandparents. Not to mention my dog, who I love more than anything else. I am thankful for my school, its nice getting to go to learn without having to be worried about being shot. Lastly I am thankful for technology, without I probably couldn’t function properly. It’s amazing what we do with technology, even though it’s taken for granted often.

On Thanksgiving, my family typically hosts a meal for my extended family. My dad gets up at six in the morning and starts cooking everything from homemade stuffing to a turkey. The stuffing we make has chicken and stars soup instead of plain chicken broth, because one year the store ran out of chicken stack. Our guests arrive around three with side dishes such as rolls or salads. Then for a while everyone, excluding my dad, just catches up on the past year. At around four we start getting ready to eat. Unfortunately I am still at the children’s table because everyone else “outranks” me. We say grace and then enjoy the spread. After that I usually spend Thanksgiving afternoon sleeping.
