Thanksgiving is a time for recognizing what you have and being grateful for it. A time for families to come together, and enjoy the old traditions that they happily celebrate year after year. My family isn’t huge on traditions so we don’t have many. The longest tradition I have to say we’ve kept is a game of football before dinner while the mothers cook. The tradition that I hate the most is that we aren’t allowed to eat any food up until dinner, so by the time the food is served we are like starving animals eating anything and everything in our paths. I guess this tradition is a good one to keep because it makes everyone so hungry that there ends up not having to pack up many leftovers. Although this tradition is respectable I can’t help from hating it because it keeps me all day from the thing I love so much and am so thankful for, my food.
I wouldn’t say I’m just thankful for the beloved food I happily scarf down every day, there are plenty of other things, in fact to many to list that I am grateful for also. Such as my amazing family that loves me unconditionally. My sports I have to say is another very important thing I’m grateful for. Playing sports is does not only help me exert my energy in such a fun way, it’s also what brought me to all my friends that I cherish so much. Lastly I am thankful for my soft, spongy, warm bed. Here is where I can curl up in a huge cloud, close my eyes, make every problem disappear and just relax.
I value relaxing very highly because it is a great stress reliever. Without relaxation I would be a strung out irrational person. Some point in each day I just need to take a moment to be alone, and just slow down. Other than relaxation I also value friendship very highly. Friendship to me is having fun with other people, sharing secrets, and just being happy that I get to spend time with them. Without friendship I think I would be the most depressed person there could be.
I love thanksgiving because it is consisted of the three important aspects you need in life such as being thankful, coming together with your family and celebrating your traditions, and expressing your values. I am so excited for thanksgiving on Thursday so I can see my whole happy family and gobble up a marvelous dinner.
I feel that you did a good job showing your opinion on Thanksgiving! You seem to really like food and spending time with your family (:
