Olivia Gorsuch_Lets Give Thanks!

Being fifteen years old, you learn to value a lot of things. I value my family and my religion the most. Family is one of the most important things to me; I don’t know where I would be without my family. My family is with me through every chapter of my life. All families have ups and downs and sometimes the fight but everything comes together in the end.  I have a family of seven and it gets rough sometimes but we always make time for each other. I value my religion very much also. I was put through catholic elementary and middle school; I have my beliefs pounded into my brain. Kindergarten all the way up to eight grade you learn something new about God every year. A couple months after you’re born, you get baptized. A baptism is a religious ceremony that recognizes you into the Catholic Church.  In second grade, you make your first holy communion. You receive Christ through the bread and wine at church for the first time. In eighth grade, you get confirmed. You receive the Holy Spirit through the bishop at mass by receiving oil on your forehead.  You get these same oils at baptism. Those are the two things I value the most.
I am thankful for many things. My friends, my family, the food I eat, and the house I live in. My friends are one of my biggest support system along with my family. My friends and family are by my side no matter what happens in my life, they are always there.  I am very thankful for the food that’s on my table every day; I know my parents work long hours and everyday just so they can feed my siblings and I. My siblings are very important to me because if it was just me, I would be so bored and they all make me laugh and we have a good time. We fight often but we all get along soon after.
I usually have my grandparents, my aunt and uncle, and two cousins come over for thanksgiving. We cook the turkey and heat up a bunch of food for the dinner. Before my family comes over, we buy five big papers stuffed with all of the ads for the stores. We eat at my big table, all together and stuff ourselves! After we eat, we go through the papers and make our lists while watching the football on TV. Then we distribute leftovers and my aunt and uncle have to go to another thanksgiving!

  1. this is really good but you do have a few grammar errors. for example in the firt paragraph you said "...and sometimes the fight but..." instead of sometimes they fight.

  3. You should be thankful that you can still enjoy the company of your grandparents. They're a gift that we aften take for granted, something I wished I had realized earlier then now.
